Carpet - Warmth and comfort under foot

There are many reasons why carpet is such a popular flooring choice. It offers more warmth, is softer under foot, and much quieter than other floor coverings. Carpeting is economical and the installation costs are significantly less than other flooring options. Many choose carpet because of the wide variety of color tones, hues, and most importantly, textures. This makes it easy to decorate and blend with any home decor. Carpet easily hides floor irregularities and can go over a variety of substrates.

Carpet is also very family friendly and helps increase air quality comfort. Air particles are trapped by carpet, while hard surface flooring allows particles to remain loose and re-enter the air. Carpet also does not just feel soft and warm, it actually provides insulation between floors. Carpet along with pad can provide a r-value ¼ that of actual insulation.

Stain treatments and the structure of certain fibers can provide significant resistance to spills and stains. Many fibers are modified or coated to stop liquids. Stainmaster carpet, for example, is excellent at resisting the initial absorption of a stain, keeping it beaded on top of the fiber so it can be blotted up. Certain fibers, such as polyester, keep stains out at the microscopic level, making deep stains easier to clean. Finally, carpet padding can have a waterproof membrane to stop liquids from soaking deeper than the carpet.
